After School Opportunities
First Lego League Robotic Team
Tobias has a tradition of after school MINDSTORM clubs. The Neon Tigers and Programming Tigers were our first teams to compete in qualifying tournaments in 2012. Our first award winning team, the RoboTigers, won the best project and best robot performance awards in 2014.
Congratulations to the 2015 RoboTigers who won best robot design and advanced to the state tournament--another first!

GEN (Girls Engineering Now)
Grade six girls have the opportunity to participate in engineering activities and meet mentors in the field of engineering. Hillsboro Schools Foundation funded a grant to begin this program in 2013.
Chess Club
Through a generous grant by Chess for Success, Tobias students are able to participate in an after school chess club free of charge. Students in first through sixth grade meet two times a week to play and hone their chess skills.
Science Clubs
Primary and intermediate students participate in a variety of scientific activities.
3-D Printing Club
Thanks to the Hillsboro Schools Foundation, Tobias now has its own 3-D printer! Volunteers Peter and Janelle Lalic started this club in 2015 with Mrs. Schlechter's assistance. Students design their own objects with SketchUp. The Hillsboro Public Library brought their 3-D printer to demonstrate and print for the club in the spring of 2015. Our own printer arrived in time for the 2016 club.
